FV1600 is a VMEbus-based Token-Ring Adapter that is fully compatible withIBM's Token-Ring Local Area Network (LAN). Utilizing Texas Instruments'second-generation chip set, FV1600 runs at 4/16 Mbps speeds (switchselectable). It is fully compliant with IEEE standards 802.5 and 802.2.FV1600 token ring interfaces and provides token ring networking forworkstation server systems. Some of the major features include:- 4/16 Mbps switchable operation.
- Complete interoperability with IBM Token-Ring.
- 512-KB (with parity) ring and 128-KB (with parity) global memory.
- Compliance with IEEE 802.5, 802.2, P1014.
- 8-, 16-, or 32-bit wide data transfers.
FV1600 token ring interface provides a true full-duplex operation for theworkstation VMEbus. The interface has 128 KB of buffer space divided intransmit and receive buffers and in program control. The MAC (802.5) andLLC (802.2) software is micro-coded and executed on the token ringprocessor.
